On the road again.......chasing those white lines down deeper & eventually into the heart of Texas. Had a fantastic night last night finishing off our crawl, I think we covered all the bars in the Bricktown area. Whilst some of us were strolling along by the canal between pub stops, one of us....namely moi was doing the Harold Holt bolting down that side walk...I spied a large stick that moved but I moved quicker....the rest of the team had an entertaining few minutes whilst my blood pressure skyrocketed! I HATE snakes. There is not enough room on this planet for me & them! Had dinner at Jazmo Bourbon Street bar ....New Orleans food, had me a real nice Jambalaya, an authentic creole dish from Louisiana. Someone in our group that is of the male persuasion that has a hankering for ice cream left his Chicago hate sporting all his trip pins.....goneski's Ended the night in Michael Murphy's Duelling Piano bar where 5 rotating dudes belted out fantastic music that really had the place stomping. One of these dudes had a bit of an Aussie connection as his father was from Oz so we got to hear some homegrown tunes...of course the obligatory Land Down Under was played. We are now heading out towards Amarillo. I continue to be amazed by the cleanliness of these places we are seeing, makes me feel a tad embarrassed having shown parts of our country to some of our American friends that are far from clean by comparison. I was interested to learn that many native American Indians held slaves back in the day, seemingly they were quite wealthy. Around 100,000 of them were move on into the state during the early 1800's which became known as the trail of tears as the US government wanted them well away from Georgia where gold had been found....sound familiar? Unlike our native people's it would seem these natives were in fact very industrious. I am hoping the opportunity arises where I can get to chat to a native American. Between the shaking of this sheep bus & the shaking of moi I am kinda struggling so I think I'll call it for now & check back in later. Hoo Roo
